2016: This is My Year

Happy New Years everyone!

As we head back into the normal flow of things this week, post-holiday season, it's easy to fall into the same habits and schedules. For me, I'm trying to reboot and get the ball rolling. By the time May rolls around, it will be a year since I graduated from college. There's quite a few things I would like to get done and be progressing towards by then.

With that being said, I thought I should let you know that you may be getting a few less blog posts from me for while. Why?

1. I'm writing my first novel. Writing has always been a passion of mine.  It's one of the reasons why I minored in creative writing. By the time I turned 18, I knew it wouldn't be my full time job. I never completely put it on the back burner though. So while I'm on a quest for full-time work, going to interviews, and on the cusp of starting my career, I  am writing and it isn't always a walk in the park. Take George R.R. Martin's current situation for example. #amwriting

2. Researching for and applying to jobs takes time. Yes, a job posting and the salary mentioned might be nice. But, what kind of reputation does the company have? Am I interested in the clients they have? Do they have ethical practices? Does the office have an atmosphere I want to be in every day of the week?

Those are the questions I have to answer for myself before I get going on a cover letter.

3. Planning, Learning, and Experimenting. I started this blog because I like to write. Initially, it was all about fashion and the clothes I wore. Then, I realized while I like fashion and clothing there were far more fashionable people who were far more invested in designers, industry trends, and taking pictures of their clothes every day. Did you really want to see me and the sweatpants I wore to class?

Over the last few months, I've begun to reshape this blog. From content to the design, I've switched things up. I've also been hopping around the web to see how I can improve my blog; looking at advice from the pros and cataloging tips and tricks to improve readership, SEO, and even the option of making money from blogging.

In fewer words, I'm very busy and I haven't even mentioned everything I'm up to. I'm more than ready to get this post-graduate show on the road.

See you soon,

Kira

Life, updates, and the new year

Hey guys and gals,

I hope you're keeping warm in this biting weather. I didn't even want to go outside to go to class today. Crazy thing is I saw a guy in shorts yesterday. I wanted to follow up with you all and let you know what's going on.

As of right now, I'm still in the planning and construction stage for this blog. I have a lot of ideas and topics that I want to write about and look forward to sharing it with you all and hearing back from you. I'm really looking to get real conversations about real things started here. I love talking to people and hope that this will be an outlet where people can talk freely. That doesn't mean I'll let people trash others and be insensitive.

I'm almost done the first semester of my senior year and I've been doing a lot of writing for my creative writing minor. That means that my time and ability to write creatively for other outlets has been none existent. I've also started a story that I plan to develop into a full length novel, so there's that too.

My aim is to be back and giving you all my opinions and other content in the new year. I will be on Winter break and feel that this realistically gives me time to complete all the design elements that I have in mind and nail down exactly how to make my vision for this blog concrete.

I hope you all continue to stay on the ride with me. Until then, follow me on Twitter; @kiramira_ for my personal tweets on pop culture, and my every day life and thoughts, and or @kiramccallPR_AD for tweets that are tailored towards news, public relations, advertising, and my journey as a developing young professional.

She Lives!

Hey gals & guys! I know it's been a while since I've posted anything. This semester has been keeping me busy. Just wanted to give you a little update on my life and let you know that I will be posting more consistently.
Moved Into My Apartment
This year is my first year living off campus! I moved into my apartment and everything has been going well. It took my mom and I four hours to build my bed, which we got from IKEA.( I LOVE IKEA!) I'll show you pictures of my decorating in a later post. I live with two friends and it's been nice so far. I'm slowly improving my cooking skills too. Thankfully, I have a commuter meal plan since I have two night classes that require me to be on campus pretty much all day.
Major Classes
This semester I'm taking three 400 level classes for my major and one 300 level, along with my last Gen. Ed. class. Junior year is no joke. Since I live of campus I'm always in the library between classes doing work or just wasting time. For example, last week I sat with my friend in the computer lab and watched the latest Legend of Korra episode. My Mass Media Graphics class is more fun than serious but it's still a lot of work. Photoshop and InDesign are tricky programs, especially since I'm a beginner.
Softball
If I haven't told you guys yet I play on the club softball team at my school. We started practicing maybe third week into the semester because our games started so early this year. Since I'm on the exec board I have to attend meetings too. We won our first games against Loyola's club team 14-1 and 21-9. My October will be jam-packed will games.

Stay on the lookout for my next post! Thanks for reading lovely people and enjoy your Friday night!

Happy Friday!

Me day before yesterday
TGIF! I know I'm not the only one happy that today is Friday. Fridays and Saturdays are my favorite days of the week. I just wanted to give you all an update on what's been going on with me. Currently, I'm interning at a PR agency called TLAPR. Please look us up and follow on Twitter and "like" the company page on Facebook. I manage their social media during my shift. I'm enjoying it so far. I'm really happy that I have this opportunity.

In other news, my roommates have moved into our apartment near school. They both have jobs up near campus and one is taking a summer class. I'm home for the summer for this internship and I'm also hoping to find a paying job as well. Plus, I still need to go to driving school.

I'm very proud and happy to say that my neighbors who are pretty much my little brother and sister have graduated high school. I definitely teared up watching them get their diplomas. They also swagged it out a few weeks ago for their prom. One is going to Howard on full-scholarship to play basketball. It's crazy because I remember when we were all younger and my brother and his friends were teaching him how to play basketball. My little sister will be attending the same college as me!

As for my lack of outfit of the day posts...I haven't really gone anywhere lately worthy of dressing up. Yes, I've gone to see my friends off to prom and too the movies but I didn't put too much effort into those outfits. Lol. Other than that I've been in the house working, scrolling down Tumblr, and watching Sherlock (awesome show!). When I do get decently dressed up, I promise you will see it. Also, I've finally upgraded to an Iphone and created an Instagram. You can follow me at kirabegera4.

Well that's all! Enjoy the rest of your Friday and your weekend!
